Hello.This year, I am honoured to be a mathematics learning partner, working alongside students and their teachers in a number of schools, within the Ottawa Catholic School Board. Technology (specifically coding!) is my passion and I cannot imagine teaching without the use of technology. Hands-on, minds-on learning is what drives my curriculum and teaching philosophy. My learning environments have always been fueled by student engagement, positivity, and a little bit of chaos. I am originally from a rural area near the shores of Lake Huron and moved to the Ottawa area in 1997 just a few weeks before the infamous Ice Storm! I currently live close to one of my most favourite things...a lake! I'm a big believer in life-long learning and taking risks. I've attended universities from Western to Brock to OttawaU to UStPaul to UBC, and a few in between! Teaching is my second career (I was a social worker for many years) and I'm so blessed to say I have the best "job" in the world. I love teaching SO much, I even teach teacher colleagues throughout the year! I am married to the coolest guy, commonly known as Mr. King, and we have one son, Noah who attends the University of Guelph in the Biopharmaceutical Chemistry program (Go Gryphons!). Our favourite thing to do as a family is to travel...ask me about our trip to Morocco or New Zealand where I made friends (not) with a camel and a 'Roo and don't forget to ask me about my incredible moment with Pope Francis!
